  Course Examiners

Barry Rosenthal

Barry is the founder and director of the CampSafe Waterski Instructor's Course. He has been teaching waterskiing for over 30 years. He is in constant search of new teaching techniques, often finding them at some of the best ski schools in Orlando, Florida.

Gillian McDowell

Gillian was one of the first students at the Waterski Instructor's Course many years ago. Ever since that year, she has been involved as an examiner at the course. Gill is a slalom specialist but loves to teach the Beginner Two Lesson; the most important lesson in waterski instruction.

Michael Sherman

Michael has been a waterski instructor for close to 25 years. He has run ski departments for many years in a camp setting. Michael has been an examiner for several years, whenever his busy practice in Toronto allows. We are glad that Michael will be with us for the whole course this year. All participants would do well to be the kind of driver, instructor and exceptional person that Michael is. I an honoured to have him as an examiner and my friend.

Dan Schneider

Dan was Head of Waterskiing at Camp Manitouwabing for 5 years, and was on staff there for many years before that. Dan is a trick ski specialist. He has been an examiner at the course for 10 years. Unfortunately Dan will not be able to make it up to the course this year. His work obligations will prevent him from doing so.

Jessica Arshinoff

Jessica is a welcome member of the Examiner team. This is her seventh year as an examiner. She has been staff at Northland since 1998 and has been Head of Skiing there for three years. We met Jessica at Northland several years ago and were immediately impressed. Barry has wanted her to be an examiner since then and since she is no longer staff at Northland, she is now a member of our team. Her smooth skiing style makes most of us 'brute strength' skiers jealous.

Jen Solish

Jen comes to us from many years teaching at Camp Northland where she ran the program. Her patience and easy going style are a great addition to our examiners. We hope to have Jen with us this year - for at least part of the course.

Mark Abramowitz

Mark has been teaching skiing for 7 years at Camp New Moon, as well as post camps held at that location. Summer 2007 was Mark's first year as an examiner, and we are happy that he is back this year. Mark is a barefoot and slalom specialist. Mark works hard during the year at Law School in the United States, but his heart is in Cottage Country.

Brad Goodman

Brad's love of skiing started at Camp Manitou when he was 10 years old. As he went through his camp life, he decided to become ski staff and we are glad he did. Brad continued at Camp Manitou as ski staff and spent the last two years as the assistant head of the program. Brad has spent 7 years teaching skiing at a program that involves all the typical camp experiences and ranges of skills. As well, Brad is qualified as a lifeguard instructor from the American Red Cross. Brad is trying to work out his schedule so he can back this year.

Dale Stern

Dale had a great stay at Northland on ski staff from 2000 to 2004, including being head of skiing in 2003 and 2004. Dale is a slalom skier and barefooter (another member of the exclusive barefoot club). Dale's enthusiasm for the sport and most importantly for safe and efficient boat driving make him a welcome member of our team. Since Dale is no longer on staff at Northland, we can use him as an examiner. We look forward to having him join our team of examiners.
