How did this course start?
We have been delivering this course for 18 years. At the time we started, there was no course in Ontario, in our opinion, that concentrated enough on safe boat driving, with enough on-the-water participation. The CampSafe Waterski Instructors Course does exactly that. It is heavily slanted toward making sure participants will be safe and effective waterski/wakeboard staff at their respective camps.
Who should
take the course?
Anyone
who will be teaching Waterskiing for their first or second season, whether
at a camp or a resort, can take this course.
What
will you get out of the course?
- Confidence: Knowing you can drive safely and teach correctly goes a long way toward your enjoyment and that of your students.
- Knowledge: Identifying and correcting mistakes students make when learning to ski can only be accomplished if the instructor knows the right way.
- Teaching
Skills: Just because you do something well yourself, doesn't mean you can teach it well. It takes technique and practice to get it right. And the good news is that you don't have to be great at something to be able to teach it. These are also life skills that will translate into other areas of your life.
- Fun: Of course we want everyone to have fun; during the course and during the rest of the summer. It's important to create an enjoyable atmosphere in order for learning to take place. We hope to lead by example.
- Driving
Skills: Driving a ski boat takes skill, practice and concentration. People are trusting you with their lives. We want you to get it right.
